The Story
This 2007 Kona Dew belongs to someone who works at the Fort Collins bike co-op. I really like the people there, so I was excited to take on this classic bike project. It’s an aluminum frame with a steel fork, and I believe it’s an early full 29er that will serve as a commuter bike on and off trails.
The build featured a turquoise to black fade with black and yellow accents that required careful planning and masking to get the outlines just right. The biggest challenge was recreating the custom Kona fonts, which aren't available online. This was one of those projects where I spent more time in Photoshop than in the paint booth. All colors were matched to the original paint job, but we went full metallic on both the turquoise and black to give it more pop. The result looks fresh from the factory, only with more exciting, personalized details.
